There is no hard limit on the size of an individual Datomic database. However, there are a number of operational considerations involved with running databases with a total history of more than 10 billion datoms. If your use case is likely to require more than 10 billion datoms, we would encourage you to contact us to discuss your system.

What does "billion" mean?
10^9 or 10^12?

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_and_short_scales it's ambiguous.
As a Hungarian, I've assumed 10^12 for example, but it has just occurred to me, that maybe it "just" 10^9.

Apologies, I did not understand this possible confusion point.  The intention was to use the American billion as defined as one thousand million: 1,000,000,000.  10 ^9.

And to clarify we only recommend that 10 billion datoms be a point where we have a conversation about scale and usage to ensure that there are no issues with growth.  We have several customers running 100 Billion Datom DBs.  This is just a great time to check in and make sure you're on the right path to get the most out of Datomic at scale.

Cheers,
Jaret
